Local Site Construction Expert Continues Expansion on RIT Campus

Monroe Roadways, Rochester’s leading site construction expert, was awarded the contract for site construction services of the new pedestrian quad on the Rochester Institute of Technology Campus in Rochester, NY. Located south of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability building in the former CIMS vehicular rotary, the improvements include new pathways and a pedestrian plaza surrounding the existing fountain. Monroe partnered with Rochester-based McCord Snyder Landscape Architecture, who handled engineering services on the project which is slated for completion in January of 2013.

“Monroe Roadways continues to show its expertise in meeting the growing needs of the respected universities around our community,” said Monroe Roadways President, Jeff Taylor. “The targeted LEED® Platinum certification for this project further instills the commitment of the Rochester Institute of Technology to promote environmentally responsible, and healthy places to learn.”

The pedestrian quad is part of the new home for the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. Looking to obtain LEED® certification rating of Platinum from the U.S. Green Building Council, it’s planned to achieve the highest levels of sustainable design and operation. The facility will be a state-of-the-art lab for scientific discovery and experiential learning.
